A culinary experience of Northern India - from Delhi to Kathmandu & Rajasthan

Eating out...with a difference

There’s not many better ways to enjoy a cold dark late autumn evening than to sit around a fire with live Indian music, open style wood fired kitchen & immerse yourself in a multi-sensory journey of Indian cuisine & history.

If you draw a horizontal straight line from Delhi east to west, the mighty desert region & land of Mughal empire of Rajasthan sits to the left. To the right - Nepal/Kathmandu &  the tallest mountain range in the world, the Himalayas.

Our resident musician Andrew Hurst will be playing an array of instruments to contribute to the atmosphere and Peter Vaughan will tell you more about the food you are eating.

On arrival

Hot punch of Bombay sapphire gin, Owl Lodge wild bullace plum & mace 

Handmade papads, cooked over fire 
Tamarind & green tomato chutney, mango, cumin & ginger chutney, tomato & chilli sambal

To start

Nepalese aubergine & spinach masala samosas 
Rajasthan Khasta Kachorih (fried puffed pastry) with mint & green chilli sauce 
Cucumber & watercress raita 

Main Course 

Chicken pasanda - a 16th century dish made for the Mughal emperors
(vegetarian version will be made on request using paneer)

Nepalese Sagarmatha black dal

Rajasthan braised rice with golden raisins & almonds 

Dessert 

Owl Lodge apple tarte tatin, spiced with mace & cardamon, Lacock Dairy salted caramel ice cream 

 Hot drinks - tea & freshly ground Dusty Ape coffee
