Eating out...with a difference

Back at Owl Lodge nr Lacock we have chosen to honour tradition of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) which is Mexico’s biggest and most famous cultural celebration. Rooted in indigenous beliefs from Aztec, Toltec & Maya traditions, it represents a joyful reunion with ancestors, celebrating life and remembrance. Ever since the opening scene of the James Bond film 'Spectre', which was filmed in Mexico City, the City government has made this parade an annual feature, due to the global interest of Dia de los Muertos festival that the film created. Before it's release, this parade never existed and was simply the idea of the film director Sam Mendes!

For the main course we will bring together two of the most traditional cooking methods in Mexican cuisine: Barbacoa (slow confit style baking) and Asado (literally meaning ‘fire -cooked'). Chef Peter Vaughan will talk through and demonstrate tips on using these two methods.

Seating will be at long communal tables, please indicate if you'd like to be seated as a group when booking & we'll make every effort to accommodate you. Join us round the fire for some great food, stories & special atmosphere.
