Eating out...with a difference

For our 1st pop-up dinner at the Ridgeway Barns, after the busy summer of catering for weddings & other events, we are celebrating the end of summer and the start of autumn, when we have an abundant harvest of colourful produce. We’ll be taking you on a multi-sensory dining experience with the flavours of South East Indian cuisine.

In the late 1850s, the British Empire had gained control of the whole of India. We allowed the French to retain their settlements along the south-east coast, one of those being Pondicherry, known as the Capital of French India.

Pondicherry, now known as Puducherry, is famous for both the fictional character Pi, from Yann Martel’s book Life of Pi, and its unique vadouvan curry - where Indian spices meet with French culinary practices to make a unique mild & intensely aromatic masala mix.

We’ve decided to blend this incredible masala mix with goat from a farm in Avebury. Confusing as it is, goat, is called ‘Mutton’ in India. They do not have a name for mature lamb as we do. The humble goat has long been underestimated and is sustainably reared just 10 miles from Ridgeway Barns by the Gourmet Goat Farmer Laura, her husband and the team. This herd of Boer goats is helping our natural ecosystems thrive, here in Wiltshire.

Chef Peter Vaughan will talk you though each course and our resident musician, Andrew Hurst, will provide mesmerising music with his sitar and tabla instruments.

Seating will be at long communal tables, please indicate if you'd like to be seated as a group when booking & we'll make every effort to accommodate you.
